How Your Professional Life Can Benefit from Chiropractor’s Advice

If you work in an office, chances are you spend a lot of your time sitting down in a cubicle. This lack of motion leaves you susceptible to back and neck pain. Combat both of these problems with ease by taking the advice from a professional chiropractor.

Working at a Desk

Just because you spend hours on end working at a desk, doesn’t mean your health has to suffer. A chiropractor in Vancouver, WA may recommend that you take frequent stretch breaks throughout your work day to prevent this.

Stretching helps loosen up muscles and tendons and improves blood flow to important areas of your body, essentially letting you reduce the onset of inflammation. These breaks don’t have to be long; just take a 5-10 minute break going around the office or pacing side to side in your cubicle. Try to take a break every hour to prevent your muscles from tightening.

The chair you use also dictates how much back pain you’ll experience throughout the work day. Choose an ergonomic chair your chiropractor recommends, as they are good for your posture By helping your body achieve the correct posture, it helps increase blood flow; it even features  many adjustable parts that let you find the best position. On an ergonomic chair you can stay comfortable and productive even when you have to stay seated for hours.

Resting

After the work day is over, sleep becomes your most valued ally in combating pain. Chiropractors generally recommend using a new pillow that adequately supports your spine. This usually starts out as a trial and error process, as not everyone sleeps the same.

The general rule to follow recommended by chiropractors is to use a pillow that keeps your cervical spine in neutral alignment. This essentially means keeping your neck’s natural curve supported throughout the night. How you sleep and for how long are also important. For proper spinal alignment, sleep on your side with a pillow tucked in between your legs. Try to get at least eight hours of sleep each day.

Working a 9-5 job is tough, particularly if you experience chronic neck or back pain. Don’t let this happen to you by heeding the advice offered by chiropractors you trust.
