What is Electrical Stimulation Treatment?
A therapeutic treatment used to provide pain relief. It can also help to heal soft tissue. How does it work? Tiny amounts of electrical impulses are induced into the tissues in the location of the injury. A low-frequency stimulation is created when these waves intersect below the skin’s surface. The body then secretes endorphins which act as natural pain-killers to help relieve pain.
Most patients find Interferential Electro-Therapy (IET) to be an extremely beneficial treatment. They describe the sensation as a faint “pins and needles” on the skin. IET helps with ligament sprains, muscle strains, and spasms. Electrical stimulation treatment helps to reduce atrophy and to increase blood circulation.
What is a Traction Table?
Spinal decompression therapy is an alternative, conservative, and non-invasive chiropractic treatment. This treatment helps to relieve pressure on the spine and used to treat herniated disc, sciatica, disc degeneration, pinched nerves, and many other back condition. The traction table stretches the spin to take press off compressed discs. This straightens the spine and improves the body’s ability to heal itself.
What is Therapeutic Ultrasound Treatment?
This is not to be confused with diagnostic ultrasound which allows doctors to see images. Therapeutic Ultrasound is a method of stimulating tissue beneath the skin’s surface using high frequency sound waves. The sound waves, which cannot be heard by humans, are a very high frequency – typically, between 800KHz to 2GHz.
Small molecules in the cells of the body are forced to move by the high frequency which creates a massaging/heating effect on the injured tissues being worked on. Patients typically do not feel anything happening, except a slight warming sensation or tingling around the area being treated. If you experience any discomfort, tell your therapist right away.
